National Goal: recognition of Early Childhood Montessori Credentials from MACTE Accredited Teacher Education Programs in State Professional Development Systems (workforce registries, career pathways, and state ratings systems).
Where are we?
At the end of this week, MACTE will have policy articulations in the revision process in 18 states. This revision includes policy articulations at optimal levels of recognition for credentials from all MACTE accredited teacher education programs, encompassing all seven affiliations.
In process: AK, AZ, CO, CT, DE, GA, HI, IA, IA, ID, IL, MA, MN, NV, NM, NY, VA, WI.
How far have we come?
In the spring of 2015, 21 states were identified with Professional Development Systems that had policy articulations that included recognition for Montessori Credentials in Early Childhood. Of those 21, MACTE identified that only three had articulations at appropriate recognition levels or that were inclusive of all MACTE accredited Teacher Education Programs (NH, OR, WA). Those are the states we are currently working to refine.
Where are we headed?
MACTE is diligently working to refine the articulations so they are consistent across the country, inclusive of all accredited teacher education programs, and at optimal levels for states that already have policy frameworks for recognition, so that those states become models for replication for the rest of the nation.
