Description: This is a leave replacement for a full time Lead teaching position. This position would begin in January 2015 and end in June of 2015 and has the potential of continuing for the 2015-2016 school year. This applicant would be the Lead teacher in a new 3-6 classroom within a developed, well respected school in a beautiful community.
o Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills with staff, children and parent community.
o Provide support to the classroom assistant and work together to maintain a nurturing and joyful Montessori classroom environment.
o Perform tasks necessary to maintain a clean, orderly and attractive Montessori environment, including upkeep and inventory of materials.
o Be responsible for daily supervision of students.
o Be responsible for daily supervision, training and evaluation of classroom assistant.
o Complete and maintain all records, reports, evaluations, inventories and assessments in a timely manner, as required by the school.
o Demonstrate the ability to perform basic computer skills for the purposes of written communication of staff and parents.
o Provide for parent conferences, meetings, and communication throughout the school year in accordance with school policy
o Attend monthly staff meetings and grade level meetings.
o Be familiar with the Parent's Handbook , Employee Handbook and Emergency Response manual
o Participate in the work of the school on pedagogy, curriculum development, and continuous evaluation
o Collaborate with Director with any student requiring extra support and evaluation as well as concerns of the parents.
o Attend and participate in school functions that relate to 3-5 classroom and functions that support the broader school community.
o Work with students of various abilities assigned to classroom; including those with learning differences.
o Understand and promote Cedar Tree's mission and policies to parents in a positive and supportive manner
o Conduct oneself professionally by respecting student confidentiality, communicating with staff members, working out differences in a mature and responsible manner and communicating unresolved concerns with Director.
o Meet with Director to solve problems as necessary as they may relate to co-workers, families,, or staff members performance.
Early Childhood Montessori Certification.
Bachelor or Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
2 years experience working as a lead teacher in a Montessori classroom.
This is a salaried position of $32,000.00 annually.
Sick Leave and Personal Days
Full time (1 F.T.E =35 hours) employees are allowed 12 days to use as paid sick or personal days. After 12 days, employees will not be paid for additional days missed. These days do not carry over beyond the academic year.
