    WCLC is a reputable Montessori preschool serving a dynamic group of supportive families in the greater Seattle Community since 2000. Each day we have sixteen to twenty-four multi-age children, 2.5 to 5 years of age with five dynamic Educators.

    - RATIO: 1-5, and we have three plus classroom environments. Our teaching team is energetic, supportive and reliable, and we wholeheartedly believe that working with children is our calling. We know and believe that this is rewarding and important work.

    POSITIONS:

    Co/Lead-teaching position available (30-37 hrs. a wk) for long term employment at WCLC. Important to find a great fit, someone who's teaching philosophies is similar to the schools and is interested in making a long-term commitment. The school year is Sept-July (closed in August). Opportunity for growth, creativity, and collaboration with the Teaching Team of Educators at WCLC. Co/Lead Teaching positions available for September and training can start as early as May 1st. We are currently looking for a Montessori teacher to co-teacher our youngest group of children ages 2 ½ to 3 years of age. Two teachers with five students, 2:5 ratio.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    -Work in coordination with the Teaching Team to provide continuity and consistency to provide a high-quality preschool curriculum for children 2.5 to 5 years.

    -Provide appropriate emotional and social support for each child's development.

    -Build positive relationships with children, co-teachers, WCLC administration and the parents.

    -Use positive guidance and discipline methods that strengthen each child's problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

    -Awareness & experience of best practices for the preschool classroom using positive discipline.

    TASKS/DUTIES:

    -Plan, implement and manage curriculum, as well as group circle activities, and take a co-lead role in curriculum development for the youngest children.

    -Participate in written assessment keeping where needed, photo taking and web-based portfolio.

    -Help document and participate in the yearly Parent/Teacher conferences.

    -Clean, organize and maintain the classroom and teaching materials.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    -Sound working knowledge of child development ages 2.5-5 years.

    -Excellent interpersonal communication skills with children, co-teachers, administration and family members.

    -Proven initiative and accountability with great follow through skills.

    -Montessori certifications for co/lead teachers and twenty credit/clock hours in early childhood education.

    -Minimum of three years of professional Montessori preschool classroom teaching experience for co/lead position.

    -Strong experience designing dynamic curriculum for children ages 2.5-5 years of age.

    -College level writing skills

    -BA, preferably in Education

    -Three Professional references

    -CPR/First Aid/BBP training

    -Music or a second language a plus.

    SALARY:

    -$18-$22 for Co/Lead-Teaching Position DOE

    -Vacation/Sick days available for Co/Lead

    -PNMA membership and renewal for CPR/First Aid covered by WCLC

    START DATE: Co/Lead Montessori Teaching positions start as early as May 2017 with two weeks of training.

    o Be familiar with the Parent's Handbook, Employee Handbook and Emergency Response manual

    o Participate in the work of the school on pedagogy, curriculum development, and continuous evaluation.

    o Collaborate using communication with Lead Teacher and Director

    o Attend and participate in school functions that relate to 3-5 classroom and functions in support of the school community.

    o Conduct oneself professionally by respecting student confidentiality, communicating with staff members, working out differences in a mature and responsible manner and communicating unresolved concerns with Director.
