Reports to: Upper Elementary Lead Teacher and Director
Number of Hours Weekly: 35 - 40
Rate of Pay: $13.00 hourly
PTO Hours: 84 hours (12 seven hour days)
Monthly Medical Supplement: $100.00
o Assists in establishing and maintaining a harmonious classroom.
o Review Student Work during 3-hour work cycle.
o Assist in curriculum planning and reteach concepts.
o Supervise lunch and recess.
o Work Independently with small groups of students.
o Monitor student behavior and movement through the classroom.
o Participate in monthly staff meetings and monthly grade level meetings.
o Plan and coordinate P.E., field trips and off-site school-sponsored trips.
o Assist with annual outdoor education overnight field trip.
o Supervise parent volunteers.
o Provide technical support with Apple computers
o Be familiar with the Parent's Handbook, Employee Handbook and Emergency Response manual
o Inform the lead teacher of any classroom difficulties i.e. discipline, academic, health, developmental challenges of children.
o Perform tasks necessary to maintain a clean, orderly and attractive Montessori environment, including upkeep and inventory of materials. Inform lead teacher of equipment, repair or maintenance needs.
o Meet with the lead teacher to discuss goals for the class and individual students.
o Prepare classroom for the day, clean up after departure
o Stocks and maintains classroom supplies
o Performs light cleaning of classroom, kitchen, and bathroom areas
o Manage students' classroom clean-up jobs
Responsibilities to the Children and Parents
o Keep all shared information confidential
o Share questions pertaining to children's performance with the lead teacher
o Share all information from parents with the lead teacher
o Be professional and positive in all dealings with students and parents
o Observe students and discuss observations with the lead teacher
Responsibilities to the Child
o Observe the child to determine if adult assistance is necessary
o Help the child help him/herself
o Help the child help others
o Help the child gain independence
o Help the child gain concentration
o Help the child when direction is needed
o Help the child follow through with his/her activities
o Help the child with social skills
o Bachelor of Arts or Sciences
o Experience working in a classroom setting
o CPR/First Aid certification
o A clear record through fingerprinting
o Have the physical capacity to work with elementary aged children (includes but is not limited to: bending, minor lifting, working on the floor, etc.)
o Experience working with students ages 9-12.
o Proofreading and 6th grade math.
